theatre tickets-buy them here??
How do I purchase tickets for a show when I will be in London in November? Also, is the Banquette restaurant near the theatre district?
I am woefully ignorant since I haven't been there in a while. Thank you11

it depends on which show(s) you want to see. For big, sold out blockbusters - book through the individual theatre, or sometimes Ticketmaster. But for the vast majority of shows, there is no need to book ahead. You can buy 1/2 price tickets at TKTS in Leicester Square.
Banquette is in the Savoy Hotel in the Strand. It is near Covent Garden and several theatres. But there are several "theatre districts" in London.

You won't get tickets to Lion King at TKTS or anywhere else that I'm aware of for half price. We were happy to pay full price AT the theatre for great "return" seats on the day of the show.
I don't mean to be personal, but I think you've mentioned grandchildren. Seniors (over 60 in London) can now often get tickets for half price for many shows by going to the theatre on the day of performance, making those tickets an even better deal than the TKTS booth which charges a fee over the half price. I kind of doubt that would include Lion King.
