The trains in Spain?? How to find a timetable on-line?
I'm planning a trip to Spain and Italy in May/June, and I need to get from Granada to Madrid on a Saturday. (28.05.05). I've got some info from trenitalia site, but SBB is a bit of a problem - it won't recognize those 2 cities as sharing a train line.
Also I've never been to Spain and can speak rudimentary Italian and French, so am just wondering about language, locals and leaping on trains there.

I've been researching trains in Spain for a summer trip and the renfe site works quite well. However, I don't think there is a direct train from Granada. Train connections between Madrid and Cordoba and Seville are great but not to Granda, I think you may have to take two seperate trains. I'm no expert, I haven't even been to Spain yet, that's just what I've found from my research.

As much as I enjoy train travel this is one route, Granada-Madrid that i think you might want to consider flying which takes about an hour. Iberia often offers cheap fares www.iberia.com

Amanda, I took the ride in reverse (Madrid-Granada) last year, and parts of it, once you get closer to Granada, are spectacular - mountains, rivers, lakes. If you don't mind long, scenic rides and are packing a CD or DVD player, it's no problem.
That said, I think I'd fly if I took the trip again, at least until they introduce the AVE on that route. It is a LONG ride, and toward the end of it you are really ready to get off that doggone train.
