The Residence Suites, Oia, Santorini

My husband and I are planning a trip to the Greek Islands for our 2 year anniversary. I’m thinking we will probably stay a couple nights in Athens then hit Mykonos, Naxos, and Santorini. I have my eye on the Residence Suites located in Oia but can't find many reviews on it. Has anyone stayed there recently? If so, please share. Thanks.

I'm also thinking about staying the Adrian Hotels while in Athens - The Hotel Cavo Tagoo while in Mykonos - Hotel Orkos Village, Naxos -

Any comments on those would be great too!

It's probably too new for reviews yet. I was given a tour last May when construction was finalizing and interior design was under way. They're lovely units with great views. I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

We stayed at the Adrian Hotel in Athens last July. The hotel has the perfect location if you want the touristy area. Its a walk to almost everything. Its small and quaint, and the rooms large enough and functional. It has a wonderful rooftop breakfast area with a view of the acropolis. It's not fancy, but we enjoyed it. Had a problem with the daytime desk clerk. If you decide to stay there, let me know and I'll elaborate.

We also stayed at Oia in Santorini. Can't say anything about the Residence Suites, but we stayed at Esperas and it was breathtakingly beautiful, and you could walk to town and walk to the bus, and we were serenaded nightly by a nudist German opera singer from another resort - it's all about ambiance. Seriously consider Esperas. Especially if you are loofing for a romantic getaway.

I just reread my message and don't want to imply anything terrible about the deskclerk at the Adrian Hotel. I just felt that he wasn't as helpful as he could have/should have been. Sorry.

Hi Bubaruski,
I had been wondering about that place, too, so i wrote to the residence suites, and asked a bunch of questions, here's our exchange:

Abbreviated version of what i wrote:
I’m trying to find out more about your property, but there is very little information available online...What is the pool like? The common areas? Is there a restaurant? How long have you been open? What is the view of the sunset like from the room balconies? Thank you for you assistance....

Their response:
Thank you for contacting us. Residence Suites is a group of suites and Studios in the centre of Oia, viewing the volcanic islands and the sea. Oia is located in the north part of the island and it is the place where you can have the best sunset view. The watch point of the sunset view is in walkable distance from the suites. Residence Suites are located very close to the main pedestrian street where most shops and restaurants are. There is no pool in the premises but there is an open-air jacuzzi for 6 people. In this link http://www.residencesuites.gr/photo-gallery.htm you can see some more photos. For any further request we are at your disposal.
Best regards

My fiance and wanted more of a "hotel/resort" style place to stay with a pool, so we'll probably end up at perivolas or something similar.
Good luck!

The Residence is small and private, not like a normal hotel environment. Other than daily maid service, I think you'd be left alone there.

I have to second the recommendation for Esperas. Breathtaking views, great staff (Yvonne is great!!), great location. We went in 2002.. and then when we decided to get married in 2003, we picked Esperas, because it was the most romantic place we'd ever been. We got married at sunset by the pool and it was incredible.

You can go down to the tavernas by the water to eat.. we went every day at lunch for some fresh grilled fish! If the stairs back up are daunting, you can hire a donkey.
