I wouldn't make too much of this lady missing a plane -
Edward Snowden reportedly wasn't on his planned flight today either.

My mum is all freaked out about it and wants me to blog a day or so later out of fear of being followed etc.>>

Crazy - will she be disappointed if the stalkers don't turn up? I don't think you need to worry on that score.

keep it coming when you can.

Maybe I'll run into you at Selfridges tomorrow - check out the shoe galleries

If you like to (window)shop, wander through Marylebone High Street, buy the kids a book at Daunt Books, then have tea at the Wallace Collection. It's a museum, but free to enter, and has a lovely courtyard. Or go have fish & chips at the Golden Hind.

Day 2/3

Sorry Bendigo but it was a bit full on to see you finding my flight details in such detail listed

So last night we went to Harrods again . . .we had planned to go for dinner at the Disney café but time got away from us as the kids had a longer sleep then thought. However, it was still great . .we went and looked at the pet section and then went to the food court and picked out our nibbles and then went back to our room for our dinner. Worked out perfectly!

Today we went to the Natural History Museum ..a must for anyone with or without children . .I loved it . .the kids loved everything and I found the shop very reasonable for toys/gifts.

From here we came home had a rest and got ready for High Tea at the Ritz.

This was good but I have done better high teas for half the price. The kids behaved and I didn't feel like I was doing the wrong thing taking the kids. They lasted the one hour and loved all the sweet food . .sandwiches a bit too flash for kids but I loved it and I am glad I have been and seen the Ritz. The kids also got a teddy wearing a Ritz jumper for free so that was pretty cool.

Tonight the kids re staying in with mum and I am going out with a friend ... I think we are planning to go to West End and see Matilda and then go out for tapas and a few drinks somewhere. Will post the adventure tomorrow.

Tomorrow we are going to do the HOHO bus . . .I know there are cheaper ways but we figure this will be nice and easy and then we can also do the cruise etc.

I must admit ...y kids are a lot more tired then I thought they would be. they have been great and have done what we have wanted but yes they need down time in the afternoon before we head off again.

I like the way we do the parks and site seeing in the day and then the shopping at night . . that seems to work out well for all.

ok touch base tomorrow with how we go.

I'm glad things are going well! We love London, too. High tea at the Ritz would be very cool.

Learning curve, glad you are able to let them nap. Rested kids are happier kids. Happier kids make the rest of the day more enjoyable. Their time clocks should adjust soon.

Sorry to nitpick, but it's afternoon tea, not "high tea". High tea is what the doorman might have when he gets home from work. ;-)

Sounds like a great trip so far and glad that all four of you are finding things to do and enjoy. 'Matilda' is on my list of things to see too.

azzure,

A writer is someone with something interesting to write, not someone who can spell.

To Claire,

Do be aware that many posters will be mean to you just because the culture of their country is to be mean to young mothers of 4 who haven't resigned themselves to a life without adventure and fun. Just ignore them.

To others,

I notice that some of the posts from people who have come to really like Claire and wish her and her family well on their journey are being deleted, while plenty of posts from people who are only here to bash Claiire and attempt to hold her up to ridicule are being left in place.

I leave the rationale for that up to the conscience of Fodor's moderators, but I would like the chance to address the few of you who are only reading this thread to cherry-pick out the honest statements of Claire in order to personally attack her with nasty insinuations she is doing something wrong:

ALL travelers learn from their travels.

Young mothers are NOT wrong to take small children abroad

It is WISE to spend extra money to have a happy trip if you can afford it.

Again, the vast majority of "Fodrorites" who come here to post understand that every trip is a gamble, and once a trip is underway, you go with the flow, adjusting where necessary, spending more than you planned when necessary.

Most people posting here want Claire and her family to have a great time, and it truly doesn't matter to them if she is doing something "unorthodox". They aren't hanging on every word of this thread hoping Claire will make a mistake that proved they were "right" and Claire was "wrong".

If you aren't here to help, to share, to enjoy and to cheer Claire on, but are here to make personal attacks on Claire, you would do yourself some credit by resisting the urge to post mean comments disguised as "I'm not being mean at all" BS. You may be fooling the moderators, but you are not fooling other people.

You new around here, Pal?

There are plenty of people here who think THEIR way to travel is the ONLY way (and thank God we never have to travel WITH them).

To the OP, enjoying your report because I know how hard they are to construct, etc.

And as to those bored office workers who are aghast that you missed your flight...listen up. They are the very same people who don't know how to DRESS!!!

>>>>><i>You new around here, Pal?</i>

<b>Dukey1</b> - interesting you should ask that..

He's been here about a month, and has commented on about 200 threads.

http://www.fodors.com/community/prof.../replies_0.cfm

Obviously he hasn't been here for the entire ride.. or has he? As another username? Seems likely, with his saying, <i>"the vast majority of "Fodrorites" who come here to post understand that every trip is a gamble..." </i> He's acting as though he knows what the vast majority here are thinking!

Or maybe he's just in a snit because his offensive post in this thread got deleted.

Claire has been a great sport, I think - and I hope she knows, even with all of the snark that's gone on, we wish her an exciting, and enjoyable trip.

Doppio,

It's not a he It's the she who lives in southern Italy, on something like her 10th screen name. Unmistakable lecturing tone, unmistakable grand generalizations about "most Fodorites," always....

He is a she, and has had more identities on Fodor's than one would imagine. All the good advice in the world soon becomes negated by jabs and stabs at various posters. And now she is Claire's self-proclaimed personal person, pretty funny if you ask me.

This is classic:

"Do be aware that many posters will be mean to you just because the culture of their country is to be mean to young mothers of 4 who haven't resigned themselves to a life without adventure and fun. Just ignore them."

Guess we all have been warned that there is a new (old) sheriff in town.
