Oh, horizon, believe me, you will know when you encounter them! Until you do, don't give it a moment's thought, dear.

I think you used the expression "what have I gotten myself into." Nothing, really, since getting out is as easy as NOT clicking on fodors! (Of course some of us have a BIG problem with that, addicts that we are.)

Re: There are different cliques or factions.

True, Marilyn. Yet we're also all part of a larger clique: Le Clique Mouse!

Come along and sing a song
And join the jamboree

A clique, but not a mousey click.
That's how clicks act.

Sheila, you know you are a member of the "Fodors Friday Afternoon Coffee Klatch and Bitch Session." Marilyn takes the union dues. Mary C. is the coat-check girl. St. Cirq is the secretary--taking notes and making sure nothing is misspelled. Scarlett makes the coffee and mint juleps (we put her in charge of that because she has a heavy hand with a gin bottle). Mimi walks everybody's dog during the meetings. Afterward, I do a song-and- dance number, whilst Foodsnob takes pictures (like Henry VIII, she has a tendency to cut off heads).

We make MKingdom take out the trash.

Miz Scarlett, I do believe that Miz elle is writing about Tori Spelling, the so-called actress.

Capo, I sang your Clique Mouse song aloud a few minutes ago, then fell over laughing. My family thinks I've lost it. You are one creative soul.

Tori Spelling, Scarlett, dear. This thread is almost as hilarious as the one that got yanked. Oh Thin, you did make me laugh, how would you put it, "so hard the gin shot out of my nose?"

Some of us keep doing this even WHILE we're traveling. The internet is everywhere!

Once when I was in Italy I asked for restaurant suggestions for an unexpected day trip to Florence, and got a half dozen replies within a few hours. How cool is that? An interactive guidebook that you don't have to carry around with you!

Are most of the people who contribute in the travel industry? I'm curious: what are the professions represented? Are you traveling for your work, or for fun?

horizon -

I'm not in the travel industry, although I sometimes wish I were. Hubby and I have lived overseas for many years and therefore have had lots of opportunity to travel. Most of it's for fun, some for work.

Hubby works in the oil industry. I'm the trailing spouse. Sadly, oil is produced in some pretty godforsaken places. Living in a not-so-wonderful place makes travel all the better!

Thin!
I'm not sure I appreciate being relegated to coat checking. Can I be the cigarette girl instead? I prefer the outfits.

Another week and I'm sure Horizon will be addicted for life. This place HAS been compared to Hotel California on a number of occasions.

Yes, yes, KYBourbon, bourbon instead of gin!!

As my Aunt Judith, a Scot, always says, "Gin goes well with everything, even Malaria."

I have been known to pour gin on pancakes.
