I have never seen a room on the train such as your describing. I'm sure others will have thoughts on this but you might just want to call RailEurope (not to buy tickets) but just to inquire. 1-877-257-2887 in the US

Older trains (and modern ones in some countries) have compartments with six seats. The Eurostar trains that run between London and Paris do not have compartments. There are seats at tables, so that four people can sit at a table.

There is only one type of train between Paris and London, and the journey takes about 2 hrs 35 mins - see www.eurostar.com.
You can do the journey via Calais and Dover by train and ship, but you need to use buses to connect between trains and ships. It takes longer than six hours.

Fastest journey time is around 2h35, but it may take a bit longer, as some trains have intermediate stops at Ashford, Calais and/or Lille. A journey would only take 6 hours if something went badly wrong.

But remember that France is an hour ahead, so the local time of arrival will always be departure time + journey time + one hour.

As Geoff says, the seat layout is just like any other train in most countries I've travelled in - nothing like a 'private room'. Smae applies to the journey, which is something of an anti-climax, bearing in mind the engineering effort to build the tunnel in the first place.

But why not get it from the horse's mouth at www.eurostar.com

I think for 10 you can get a group rate. I got the rate for 12 and it was a little cheaper. Somewhere on the Eurostar home page is click for groups. Worked fine!
