The Burren
Has anyone stayed at Mt. Vernon House http://www.mountvernon.ie/index.html ? The reviews on TA seem to be all over the place, and this is one where my "spidey sense" is failing me.

Can't help you with Mt. Vernon House but if you decide against it I can recommend Rocky View Farmhouse near Fanore. http://rockyviewfarmhouse.com .

Mount Vernon perfectly good Guest house. Rock View perfectly good guest house.
Trip Advisor reviews need selective reading and 3 bad from single contributors, compared to more than 5 from regular contributors (including a couple from people I can vouch for?)
Furgus View would get my vote but set in the heart of the Burren http://www.fergusview.com/

Thank you, both. I have actually settled on Fergus View if they have availability, so it is great to see your recommendation.
Tony2phones, I always read TA reviews selectively, looking for multiple hits from single contributors, regular contributors who seem to share my idea of what is "good" or "not good". I especially weed out those who slam a place for something out of the control of the guesthouse, such as "We showed up very late at night and had to wait to be let in.", or "Due to a terrific storm the power went out so we were not able to read."

You would be amazed at how many people just look at the points and don't take time to read what is written let alone between the lines.
