Train from Paris (Bercy Stn) to Auxerre

Hi - just checking: do I have to purchase my train ticket from Paris (Bercy) to Auxere in advance or can I purchase it at the Bercy station the day I'm travelling? If it should be purchased in advance, do I have to purchase it online or can I go to Bercy & buy it there?

thanks!

You can wait until you get to the station, or you can go online 3 months or less out from your travel date and buy PREM tickets and save a lot of money - www.sncf.com or www.tvg-europe.com.

The trains that run between Paris and Auxerre are local TER trains so they have fixed prices (26.90€ one way) and you won't save money buying those tickets in advance. Since there are no reservations on these trains and they can't sell out just wait until the day you are traveling and buy them on the spot at the train station.

There isn't any train where you literally are not allowed to buy a ticket at the train station the day of travel, assuming there are free seats. Why would they do that, they want the seats filled.

Thank you all! I actually walked to Gare Lyons today and bought the tickets at one of the automated machines there. Because both of us are 61, we got the senior rate of 20.20 Euros/ticket...a lot cheaper than the online senior rate of Cdn $39 posted on the RailEurope site!

I'm glad I chose to buy the tickets at the station...!

As a rule, do not buy from RailEurope until you have first checked the official rail websites since RailEurope usually charges higher prices and doesn't show all available trains.
