Thank you
Hello and thanks
I wanted to say thanks to all the people who contribute to this website.
I spent lots of time reading posts on various things when I was planning our trip. Lots of my questions were answered just by reading other peoples questions and answers.
We went to Paris for 8 days, Blois in the Loire Valley for 6 days, Cologne for 2 days, Croatia for nearly 3 weeks (Plitvice and down the Adriatic Coast including a week on Korcula) then Italy for 10 days (Ravenna, Florence and Rome). Finished up in England to see some friends for a few days before returning to Fremantle, Western Australia.
Every single day was fantastic! The pre trip planning via this site and the help of books from our local library, certainly paid off.
We stayed mainly in studio apartments and rooms and used public transport throughout.
I’m more than happy to return the favour if anyone has any questions about where we went, stayed etc. We are a couple in our 40/50s and on a modest budget!

Hello mf62, you had quite a trip!! I can only imagine how much fun it was.
From time to time Fodorites ask about lodgings in Ravenna, would you like to share where you stayed, assuming you spent a night in Ravenna. The hotel I have stayed at I really like (great location) does have very small guest rooms so I do not think a lot of travellers would be happy with it. Best regards.

In Ravenna we stayed at Hotel Argentario. The room was comfortable and spacious. They also services a really nice breakfast. It was 74 euros for a double room with ensuite. Well located on Via de Roma, close to Basilica of S Apollinare Nuovo and also on the bus route to Classe.
In Cologne we stayed at Hotel Breslauer Hof Am Dom. Nice room, not spacious but adequate for a couple of nights. nice breakfast. We paid 68 euros per night for a double room with ensuite. The hotel was a very short walk from the train. It was on the other side of the railway from the Cathedral - but an easy walk through the train station to the Cathedral.
I'm sorry I haven't written a trip report yet - I'm back at work and time is short. hopefully one day soon.
