TGV to Lille
I'll be staying near CDG next month and I've been considering a TGV trip to Lille, as much for the trip itself as for Lille. But can someone tell me about Lille and what I might do there?

Carla

PS: How do you pronounce "Lille"?

Lille is not at the same league as Lyon or Brussels. However, the old town is interesting to walk around, the Fine Art Museum has several masterpieces, and some beautiful old churches are worthwhile visiting. Besides,it only takes one hour to Lille.

Arras is one of the prettiest towns in northern France, according to the Rough Guide. Grand Place is surrounded by gabled houses from the 17th and 18th centuries. The smaller Place des Heros has also many historic buildings. 45 minutes by local train from Lille Flandres, 50 minutes by TGV from Paris Nord (but not CDG). Maybe you can visit both Arras and Lille in one day? I have never been there (not yet).
