Ted Gale- SW France
Ted, Mimi emailed me. She knows me well enough to know that I don't read threads about clothes.
How can I help you? What would you like to know? I make no guarantees that i can help, but I'll try.
(I would have posted to the £frumpy" thread but Fodors have closed it to traffic).
We've been back since 3rd September. But we're back in France for a week from the 8th. Come to lunch or something.

I'm doing the unthinkable and posting from work!
Anselm just emailed me to alert me to sheila's message. I will email her now to follow up with an information request.
Thanks to Fodors friends for their help and vigilance.
Yes I'm eager to get to France and also to meet Sheila if that can be arranged.
But while Fodorites on other threads muse over "what to pack" I'm thinking:
"If I don't get that holiday soon, my only fashion option will be a shroud...."

I saw this message only after I had posted to your home machine.
Heading off now to our cottage but I'll be home Sunday and hope -- given our time difference -- you will have read my incoming and found time to respond. Thanks again!

Hey, as long as I have a personal thread going:
I have been working like crazy since May. Exhausted. Find myself 10 days from departure with NOTHING arranged but our air bookings.
We will rent a car in Toulouse Oct 4 for our 2 weeks in southern France. But then where?
1. Should I visit Bordeaux? Charente? Les Landes? Biarritz?
2. Any other Fodor advice as to where I MUST go after arriving Toulouse?
We know and love the Dordogne, wandered a bit in the Gers last year, decided to make Toulouse our start and end point this year.
But then the planning stopped. Yikes!
I am ready prey to anyone who can tell me where I can find charm, history, good food, relaxation, no pressure.........
Any gite recommendations esp. welcome.

When we flew to Toulouse last summer we spent our first two nights in Albi, which was very enjoyable. The day after we arrived we visited Cordes and drove through the Gorges de l'Aveyron. The area meets your criteria, I believe. We enjoyed it very much.

Coco: J'ai du mal a croire que nous partons dans 9 jours. Malheureusement, nous devrons garder Dijon pour la prochaine visite -- sans faute, nous vous rendrons visite! Merci pour les conseils sur l'hebergement, dans le midi....

I agree with Nikki....Albi is lovely. I did not know anything about it in advance and only chose to stay there to break the journey from Avignon to Uzes.It was a great surprise...even discovered the Toulouse Latrec museum there. If you go there, visit the Cathedral and make sure you go out to the back for lovely garden overlooking the river. Have fun!
