Tea?
My wife and I will be in London for two weeks and of course we would like afternoon tea. BUT, we think it would be in our liking to spend under 35 quid for the both of us. We would like it more traditional. Where could we go for inexpensive nice tea?

Richoux's traditional afternoon tea is £29.95 for 2. I thought it was good, but I have nothing to compare it to.

I see I misspelled it - it is the Orangery and tea prices are advertised at ranging from about 7 to 16 GPB per person. (I think the 16 Pound version includes a glass of sparkling wine or champagne). The location is superb and it is not stuffy - come as you are kind of place.

I also recommend The Orangery.
Here is something a bit different (and very popular) although I have not yet been and don't know the cost: http://www.sohossecrettearoom.co.uk

How about a trip to Kew Gardens in Richmond:

combined with tea at The Original Maids of Honour Tearoom on Kew Road.
Many choices on your budget:

"The Original Maids of Honour Tearoom"
Just about the closest place in London to what people who have tea (the pseudo-meal) at home actually consume. WI-grade cakes (than which there is no higher accolation): proper tea: no poncey champagne. Does anyone except a hard-core alcoholic (or a tourist easily conned by an overpriced central London hotel) drink booze at tea?
