Taxi from train station in Prague

I will be arriving from Vienna to Prague and was wondering about how much a taxi should cost to Old Town since I have heard so much about overcharging. Thanks

Are you going to a hotel? Many hotels will send a cab to meet you at your expense. The hotel tells you the charge before you reserve.

It shouldn't cost that much at all, I would guess perhaps 300-350 CK or so?

How are you arriving and what is your drop-off point? The Old Town area is very central and Prague has an excellent (and very cheap) public transport network.

Sorry, your subject heading answered my question. A taxi should be minimal cost - just make sure you agree on the price up front. In Prague, there does seem to be a dual pricing system at work - one price for locals, another for the "mug" tourists. If you have accommodation booked in the Old Town, I would recommend sending them an e-mail to ask the best way to get there and approximate cost.
regards
Janine

Hi,

There is an information both in the train station, right where you go out to the cabs. Ask there how much it should cost. I can not remember how much it was suppose to cost, I think about 10 USD. We asked the information person, but the cab driver said he had a meter and not to worry. Well the meters are on super speed. Needless to say it was an expensive cab ride, so do determine the price before you leave the station.
