Frankly I wouldn't think of paying 45 pounds for a private car. What are they picking you up in -- a Rolls? I pay 25 pounds for a private car from Heathrow to Covent Garden, so I can't imagine that to the Grosvenor would be more. You need to call Swiss Cottage Cars at 011-44-207-431-2700 if you are at all concerned with throwing away money. $30 plus is a lot of difference.
The last I knew Ray Skinner is a minimum of 39 pounds, still a lot more than 25, but at least less than 45.

But as to your original question, even 45 pounds is probably less than a taxi, especially considering it is a guaranteed rate even if stuck in traffic.

I would second Patrick on Swiss Cottage. We used them and actually made the same trip from Heathrow to Grosvenor House (wasn't original plan, long story).

They were reasonably priced, prompt and the driver was friendly. Good service.

Ray Skinner and Swiss Cottage used to be pretty close in cost - but Skinners has had two recent rate increases and they are now nearly as much as a black cab.

Swiss Cottage would be a good choice.
