Taxi from CDG - 4 persons - 2 different hotels

We are two families (2 persons each), arriving at Paris CDG with the same flight. We do not have the same hotel, but two hotels (one near Rue de Rivoli, and another near Opera).
What transportation will be better for us from airport to hotel (I am asking about taxi):
- two separate taxis?
- one taxi, that will stop at the first hotel, then to the second? In this case, how will be the requested cost?

Hi V,

>- one taxi, that will stop at the first hotel, then to the second?

The meter will keep running until the fare is dropped at the 2nd hotel.

That is the full price.

The fare on the meter, 1€ per bag, and 2.70€ for the fourth passenger.

In places where we have done this (Zurich and Rotterdam come to mind), the driver stopped the meter at the first hotel, collected the fare, then reset it to the minimum before setting off for the second. Yet another reason why we take trains from airports to city centers.

[Post generalizations about Swiss and Dutch here.]

Hi Valtor,

When our group of 4 friends visited Paris a few years ago, we had a very hard time finding taxis that would take all 4 of us, just for getting around the city without luggage. We usually had to take 2 separate taxis anyway.

Have fun!

We have been 4 people several times in Paris and have never had any problem gettiing a cab, particularly at the airport. There is a charge for the 4th person.

If your party is leaving the same way you came, the couple being dropped last can pay the full fare at the end, and the other couple can pay the return fare back to CDG.

Thanks Travelnut. My problem is not how us (these 2 families) will divide between us the cost of the taxi, but if will find a taxi to take 4 persons, and if will ask from the cost from airport till last destination (or he will ask each family to pay the whole cost).

As pointed out elsewhere, all this luggage will probably not fit in a standard cab. Larger vans are available.

He certainly can't ask each family to pay the whole cost, that wouldn't make sense. The driver will expect the total bill due him at the last stop. Taxis are metered in Paris, they aren't flat rate nor per person, so there isn't any way they could ask each family to pay for the entire trip.

I don't see how paying at the end would work. Will the surcharges for the fourth person and 2 luggage surcharges be deducted from the fare between hotel 1 and hotel 2?

Methinks you are oversimpifying. I think you should expect to be charged the fare for four plus all luggage to hotel 1, then for two plus the remaining luggage from hotel 1 to hotel 2. And since there isn't any way to pro-rate fares, the meter will start from the minimum at hotel 1.

Both cases (to pay at the end for all four, or as Robespierre said - starting again the meter from the first hotel) it will be ok for us. I shall tell you when we return, what and how we were asked to pay.
