Taxi for 5 from Termini

ARe there legitimate taxis at the taxi stand outside of Rome Termini that can accomodate 5 people with luggage? Or do we need two taxis?

I think that with 5 people, plus luggage, you should plan on two taxis.

There are official Comune Roma taxis that are like small minivans. You would need one of those or two taxis.

Go to the Taxi line outside the station. They will help you find the right taxi/van. Do not accept any offer of a taxi by anyone who approaches you as you exit the train. It is a scam.

Are you coming in from the airport or from another destination in Italy by train. If you're taking the train from the airport then a car service will be less expensive from the airport to your hotel.

Coming in from Tuscany on the train. We need to get to our aparment near the Vatican museums. I am well aware that we need to go to the taxi stand because we once (for some reason!) went with a non-taxi stand taxi and ended up paying through the nose. I even told the driver that I knew he was cheating us but he pleaded ignorance. Can I ask if it would be cheaper to take a car service from our apartment to the airort at the end of our trip vs. two taxis? Thanks!

I would send an email to Limo Service Rome and ask them how much it would be for a transfer from Termini to your hotel for 5 people. Be sure to give them the address of the hotel. At best guess a taxi would be about E10 (each) or a bit more depending on time of day and traffic. I've used Limo Service Rome a couple of times from the airport and was pleased with their service.

i always use airport shuttle, they have their own vehicles at the airport and very competitive prices, ask them for a quotation, they have minivans.

Our family of four took a taxi (from the taxi line) to our apt in Rome from Termini. We knew it shouldn't costs more than €25 (according to our apt. owner) and when we arrived at the apt. the taxi driver not only charged us more (I think it was €38) but then did a quick change with our money and told my husband that he only gave him €20 instead of €40. My husband was pretty sure that he gave the correct amount but the driver was so adamant that he didn't and we were hot and tired and just let it go. When the owner came to meet us and we told her what we thought had happened, she confirmed that stuff like that happens a lot. Later in the day, we went over our funds and sure enough, we were short by the same amount. That was the last taxi we took in Rome.

We're back! We went to the taxi stand and asked the taxi drivers if they could take 5 and for how much. The first guy said, 30 euros. I told him no and asked the second driver (in front of the first!) how much and he said it would be about 12 euros to 15 euros. Bingo! We gave him a 5 dollar tip for being honest.
