Taxi Florence airport to hotel

I normally take a bus to town from an airport, then walk to the hotel (unless it's too far to walk), as I normally just have my carry-on suitcase and bag. I understand that a taxi from the Florence hotel to the city center is about 15-20 Euros, including luggage.

Has anyone every had problems of being overcharged or ever been driven in a round-about way to get to a place and being charged more than what they should have charged? I'm wondering if I should just take a taxi from the airport or take the bus to the bus station in the city and then a taxi (or walk).

Thanks,

Monica

We paid about 15 euro from the airport to the city center and felt we were driven very direct. Our driver was young and freindly, as well.

I understand that most people just round up on the tip, but if they are friendly, helpful and assist with luggage, I usually tip about 10 percent or so.

Hi monica, you might want to take these phone numbers with you as they are the two taxi companies in Florence that are open 24/7.

055-4242 and the other one is 055-4390.

You should find taxi's outside the Santa Maria Novella train station but the numbers are good to have if you need a taxi during your stay in Florence.
