Taormina Day Tours

For a complete schedule of day tours out of Taormina to destinations throughout Sicily, see:

www.compagniasicilianaturismo.it

Note there are distinct schedules for summer and for winter.

My parents used this company recently and unfortunately it was a disaster. They were overcharged and their guide was very misinformed

Good to know. I wonder if this was an isolated case, or whether it reflects a pervasive problem?

My husband and I will be visiting Sicily for the first time June/July 2003. We will be staying in Taormina and would like to take day trips from there. Any suggestions on what to see, where to go? We were planning to take the train from Taormina to various places is the a good plan?

The most popular day trips out of Taormina are to Mt. Etna, Siracusa, the Aeolian Islands, and Piazza Armerina/Roma Villa of Casale. For Mt. Etna and Piazza Armerina, you are better off taking one of the commercial organized day tours out of Taormina. Siracusa and the Aeolian Islands you could do on your own. See my separate posting on going to Siracusa from Taormina by combination bus and train.

Thank you for the information.

What is the benefit of using a commercial organized tour company?

Were you referring to the website you suggested (www.compagniasicilianaturismo.it)? Didn't someone write an unfavorable review of this company?

The benefit is that all travel arrangement are handled for you. You don't need to worry about finding train and bus schedules, making connections, etc.
