Sicily Mt. Etna

Hello all!

With advice from Fodorites I have decided to limit our 6 days in Sicily to the regions of Taormina, Syracuse & Catania(where we fly back to Rome). We would like to take a day tour of Mt. Etna & wondered whether it is best taken from Taormina or Catania? Any suggestions of tour companies or itineries?
Thanks, Ozlinz

Will you stay in all three Taormina, Syracuse & Catania?
We stayed in Toarmina and Syracuse, even we arrived in Taormina from Palermo via Catania, and at the end we went from Syracusa to Catania airport (for our flight to Malta).

From Catania to Taormina or to Syracusa by bus you need around 90 min.

We took a day trip from Taormina to Piazza Armerina and to Agrigento via http://www.satgroup.it/
The guide was very good.
Check their site, they have trips to Mt. Etna from Taormina (but not daily).

Thank you Valtor - we will be staying in all three places, but we will allow an extra night in whichever town we will be in to take the Mt. Etna tour. Anybody else have any experiences with Mt. etna tours?
Thanks, Ozlinz

Try www.sat-group.it-we took a day tour from Taormina. they offer tours two days of the week. The more complete one is 75 euros.

I think that if you want to visit Catania, you can do this as a day trip from Taormina or from Syracusa, so you don't need to move each 2 days with all luggages.

Etna is closer to Taormina, and you can book the tour by email or entering their web site (see the address that I gave you). Or, their office is on the main street in Taormina and you can book the trip when you arrive there.

Thank you for your suggestions. We'll keep the extra day in Taormina & only stay overnight in Catania so we can fly out the next morning.
Cheers, Ozlinz
