swandav - i agree my comments were only that you have to either order the Half-Fare Card online from Switzerland or at any station pick it up when there - point being there is only one source and one price.

But there are two types of Half-Fare Cards, right - one for a month and one for a year - if coming back within 12 months that option could be better.

Hi again,

There are more than that, actually. There is one for two years and one for three years. I've been getting the one-year verion at 150 chf for a few years as I've been lucky enough to go twice a year.

Gee everyone in Switzerland must have a Half-Fare Card and if kids under 16 a free Family Pass - thus everyone must basically travel at half price - wonder why they do not just cut prices in half and save all the overhead of issuing Cards, etc.

While we did the B.E. train ride only from Pontresina to Poschiavo, it was truly unforgettable. Photos and video just cannot do it justice. My children (at the time 3 and 6) loved every minute of it.>

To me the Bernina Express or Bernina Pass (for non-express regional trains) Railway is the most scenic i have been on in Europe in decades of incessant rail travel. Well worth going out of your way for IMO.
