Switzerland Family Friendly hikes

Hello Fellow Fodorites,

We are a family of five, 2 adults and three children aged 11, 8 and 2. We are thrilled to be visiting Switzerland (once again), arriving in Interlaken on 12th August and staying until the 20th. This time we are planning to explore the area for a whole week and we would love some suggestions and advice to make the most of our trip.

As a family, we cherish spending quality time together amidst the beauty of nature. We are particularly interested in family friendly hikes (if they exist) that offer breath taking mountain vistas and picturesque riverside trails. We'll be bringing along a sturdy stroller for our youngest member and would appreciate any recommendations on hikes suitable for strollers. Alternatively, we are open to the idea of one parent taking a cable car to a destination together with the infant, while the rest of us hike up to the same spot.

This marks our third visit to Switzerland and we'd be grateful for any recommendations on family-friendly hikes, must visit spots, kids activities in the Interlaken and surrounding area. Thanks

Best Regards,

Hello midaz

How about a hike from Lauterbrunnen to the Trümmelbach Falls and a visit to these unique waterfalls. A hike from Mürren to Gimmelwald and then down to Stechelberg. Alternatively, take the cable car down.In Gridelwald I can recommend a trip to Grindelwald First and the hike to Bachalpsee on a well-maintained path with a wonderful view of the Bernese Alps. The spectacular glacier gorge in Grindelwald (it's really a small hike) is also worth a trip.

On the beautiful Lake Brienz you can walk to Iseltwald and then possibly take the boat to the Giessbach waterfalls and back to Interlaken. If the weather in Interlaken is bad, we recommend visiting the InterlakenPark or the Beatus Caves.

Have a great trip!
Martin

There are thousands of miles of stroller friendly hiking trails all over Switzerland. may be even in the Jungfrau area (the only area in Switzerland, where this kind of "sport" can get a real challenge, as there are often too many people on the tails).

If at all possible, I'd take a baby backpack for your youngest in preference to a stroller. I know that at 2 s/he may be too big but if not, it's nicer for them and easier than pushing a stroller.

We hiked in the area when our kids were 12 and 9 and it was a really special time which we all loved. Enjoy!

Hi,

I'm not sure what is the hike difficulty you're looking for, but:
- Oeschinensee - should be O.K for strollers.
- AAre Gorge - Half of the road should be O.K for strollers.

What exactly is to do there & map:
