Swiss Air and/or Iberia- opinions?
We're flying Swiss Air business class from Chicago to Zurich onto Amsterdam...
Our return flight on Iberia takes us from Munich to Madrid to JFK- business class again
Any thoughts or opinions? I believe I have flown Swiss Air, but it was years ago... I've never flown Iberia.
Thanks!

Wow, I have such a different view of Swiss. IMO Swiss business has the most uncomfortable business class seats of any airline I have ever flown (I don't like Airbuses to begin with and somehow Swiss manages to make it even worse) Their service is not much, I think people believe it is good because it is Switzerland. I used to live in Zurich and had to fly them a lot. They are OK. Of course it is an airline, other than Singapore, Cathay and Emirates none of them are really great, and airline food is airline food so really it is kind of relative. Have only flown short-haul small aircraft on Iberia which was fine, I can't comment on Iberia's long haul aircraft. InterEurope business class is really no different than coach, seats are bascially the same size, food is maybe a little better, you generally do not get boarding privileges first; so there is no real advantages to flying business, but the price is not much more than coach anyway. If you are using miles and can opt out of business for the inter-Europe part and use less miles to go coach, you might want to do so.

I have flown Swiss ORD – ZRH return 7 times in the past 18 month. Most of those were coach, however I have flown that route business class.
I found the seats comfortable, and the food good. I can still taste one of the cheese plates – spectacular. And I am a sucker for the Moevenpick ice cream given out on every flight.
Now I did fly Swiss ZRH – Dar es Salaam Business about 2 years ago and found those seats quite uncomfortable. It was clearly a different plane than they use for the US routes. Sorry, I'm not a plane person and I have no clue as to the type of plane it was. But the food was still good!

Now Queenie raises an interesting point, as virtiually all my long-haul on Swiss to/from the Middle East and a few trips to Asia, so perhaps they use different aircraft in the US. I did fly them to Miami, same bad seats. I thought all their aircraft were Airbuses and older ones which is the problem. I would not stress too much if the price is good, it is just a flight and not really a long one as they go.
