***SURPRISED about IRELAND Forum***
Am traveling to France this Aug. and have received so much wonderful first-hand information. My Mom is traveling to Ireland to play golf in Fall and I posed a golf question in your forum in mid May. (She doesn't have a computer.) However, due to no activity asked Fodor's to delete and reworded early June to what still remains, unanswered. Am still surprised no responses have been posted! With France forum, replies come within minutes! I know Ireland is a lovely place and many people go there to play golf but maybe they are not interested in this Forum? .

Can someone help my Mom about the courses she has in mind? See, ***GOLF ANYONE?***

Any golf replies would be welcome. Thank you very much

I wish I could help you, but I have never been to Ireland. You may have already thought of this, but you could try to find a golf forum. I am sure that they exist. Also, try amazon.com or Barnes and Noble. I would expect that there are books on this topic.

Debbie,
I got no response when I tried to bring up "Golf, anyone?" However, I've been to Ireland (but not to play golf), and I have a very comprehensive golf guide to the British Isles. If you'll post the question again, I'll see if the info I have might be useful.

Ireland is spectacular -- we spent 12 days driving, loved every minute. MY husband did play golf (with a pair of Irish priests), so maybe we can help.

Glad your golf trip was delightful, Wendy! Must be beautiful with all the rolling hills and raw beauty of Ireland. My husband played one week of golf last May '98 with his buddy and he described it like that. I myself am not a golfer but it's my Mom I posted this for.

Harriet, if you've any ratings on the courses I posted- the one's my Mom will play on, I'd appreciate it! --Debbie

I didn't see your post in May or I would have answered it then. It's been three or four years since we went to Ireland to play golf - but I'm sure nothing has changed much. Killarney is a wonderful place to stay as there are several courses within driving distance. The Killarney course is the most 'American'(what they call parkland courses as opposed to links) we played and is beautiful as it's beside a lake with mountains(more like big hills!) in background. There are 36 holes here, so they just tell you which was is available. And she must not miss Ballybunion - it's tough, but it's very popular, famous, and it wonderful experience. If she wants any info - you may e-mail me for any other details. Wish I was going again - but we're going to England this fall, and I've been concentrating on those forums
and just happened to see this one tonight.

Debbie,
I didn't see your original post, maybe because I was on vacation in Prague ,Vienna, and Budapest. We went to Ireland with 2 other couples and played 6 courses in SW Ireland - Killarney,LaHinch, Tralee, Ballybunion, Waterville and Connamara. Each one was different, hard to pick a favorite. The women like Tralee - however Ballybunion is an experience of a lifetime. Trip was set up through Haversham and Baker in Cincinnati, Ohio. Sam Baker does a great job - can arrange all tee times, transpsortation, hotels, etc.
Topper: you are here too, in Ireland Forum. Please do not comment anymore with fruitless comments. Stay off forum if you cannot respect this as all us others do. We help each other with intelligent suggestions/advice/ comments etc. Let's keep it that way! Thanks!

Debbie, though I think this is a great forum and have gotten lots of helpful information on it, I too had trouble with getting some advice on Ireland. But then I got a posting suggesting I look at www.ireland-withpatpreston.com and there I found a whole site devoted to Ireland. There's also a forum type site and I got great advice there. I think there may also be a section on golf courses, but I can't remember. Highly recommended

Ellen, thank you so much. I will check out the Ireland web address, all for my Mom who is not fond of computers. I in turn have the good fortune to visit France in a few weeks and have been checking the France forum very closely. Again, my thanks.
