Sunday shopping in Amsterdam

Because a newborn we know has partial Dutch heritage, we would like to purchase an appropriate (not kitch, but not expensive) gift from the Netherlands. Unfortunately, we are scheduled to arrive in Amsterdam late Saturday and leave by air early Monday (eight weeks from now). Will we find stores open in Amsterdam on Sunday? What hours would be best, if there are openings?
Thanks.

Well one of the best shopping malls in Holland is at Schiphol Airport - both outside and inside customs - inside you may get tax-free stuff - anything you'd buy for him in Amsterdam i believe. And i believe recently stores in Amsterdam have been open on Sunday though i'm not certain of that. Some tourist stores are definitely open but the airport shops will carry the same stuff. Leave an extra hour at Schiphol and shop till you drop into the plane!

This store sounds perfect - I think the last line of the 'Open' message indicates the store is open Sunday from noon to 6pm.
