Standing in the far reaches of a cave in the Dordogne and contemplating the fact that the drawings I was seeing were made 25,000 years ago.

Dining on the back patio of our rental home in a small French town of about 500 people.

Visiting the Buddhist temples (and their gardens) in and around Kyoto.

Spending 2 weeks in Sweden & Norway with a Swedish friend. Living like a Swede for several days at his home then his cabin near the Norway border. Trondheim, Trollsteigen, Geiranger, Dalarna, Sundborn, Stockholm. Wish I could spend every summer in Sweden.

Floating in the turquoise waters of St. Jean Beach, St. Barts; in the hot tub of our villa under the stars; oohing and aahing at every turn of the road. Fabulous food, super polite and wonderful people!

Waking up in the morning in the little cottage we rented in Old Town Reykjavik, sipping coffee while sitting on our porch watching young Icelanders coming home from a VERY LATE Friday night and being so happy I wasn't 25 anymore.....

Hanging with family in upstate NY and watching my young boys play with their cousin and "get" what being part of a big family is all about. Also, have our flight coming home cancelled and watching my three toddlers deal with being stuck in an airport for 10 hours before taking two flights to get back to Minnesota and being such total rock stars about the whole thing never complaining, never crying and not even kicking the seats of the people in front of them despite the obvious boredom, bad food and lack of naps. Awesome!!!!

Sonoma this weekend so more memories left to be made....

10 days in Honduras, riding horses, working with a group that sponsors 2 villages of very very poor people and doing a mini eco tour. Weekend in the thousand island ny, a weekend on cape cod, and I'm off to the Bahamas for labor day. Then back to work until next summer.

Whirlwind trip at the end of May/beginning of June through several cities in Europe-London (5th visit), Amsterdam (2nd visit), Luzern (1st visit), with brief stops in Cologne and Heidelberg, etc. Trip culminated in Paris which I'd been longing to see again since my last trip there in 1998. Though this time my stay in Paris was less than 48 hours, I was still thrilled to be there. It only whetted my desire to return yet again. Enjoyed the entire trip though it was way too fast for me!

In early August, spent 3 nights in Quebec city. First time there. Enjoyed it immensely.

Now...I travel in my head until the next time I can pack my bag for real!

It's winter here - and the best time to travel up north!

Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef, Darwin and Kakadu National Park.

Just amazing. Well worth the trip! If they were in the northern hemisphere they'd be over-run with tourists.

Aren't we lucky!?

May: Santorini for 3 nights--glad we did it, but I probably won't be going back anytime soon

May: Crete for 5 nights--glorious. I'll go back in a heartbeat

May: A quick stop in Athens and the Pelopenese (sp?)--longing to be back in Crete

July: Beaulieu-sur-mer, France--3 great nights just hanging by the pool. Perfect relaxing getaway--can't wait to go back.

July: Paris-- too hot in July. I'll stick to my off-season visits in December, January, and in the Spring

July: San Francisco-- lucky enough to catch a cool front and the friends and food is always awesome.

August: Santa Fe-- perfect weather and 40 degrees cooler than Dallas! Wish I had more time to visit the galleries!

September: Heading to Bangkok next.

In July, my family spent 1 week in Provence, 1 week at an agriturismo in Tuscany, 4 days on the Amalfi Coast and 3 days in Rome and what a time we had!

We were in Sorrento when Italy won the World Cup and what fun that was! We will never forget the excitment and were thrilled to be a part of it!
