Suggestions for Rome hotels

Working on a trip to Rome and Amalfi Coast for September. Will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, so wanted to splurge a little. Considered Hassler, but concerned about its location at top of the Spanish Steps, remembering how hubby had trouble with the stairs in the Basilica and Doge's Palace last year in Venice. Did I read somewhere on this board that there is an elevator???
Also considering Hotel d'Inghilterra and
Hotel Raphael. Would Piazza Navona area be
preferable to Spanish Steps? Thanks for any
recommendations.

I would stay at the Hotel Ponte Sisto if it were my anniversary. It's located near Campo de Fiori just across the river from Trastevere.

Hotel Raphael is quite a splurge, but I have heard it's service and comfort live up to the prices.

I and many others have happily stayed at the Albergo del Senato, whose location next to the Pantheon simply cannot be beat, and whose creamy decor is so soothing. Ask for a view. They have an elevator. They also have a gorgeous rooftop terrace which should be open when you are there.

Uma,

The Raphael Hotel, The Hotel Ponte Sisto, and the Albergo del Senato are all excellent choices and all three are much better located than the Hassler.

All three are similar in prices and hotel class to the Hassler and any of them would be perfect for an anniversary splurge.

3rd vote for Hotel Ponte Sisto. See if the Belvedere room is available. Large terrace overlooking the city.
