I've arrived in Amsterdam twice after 13-14 hour flights. I presume you're talking about a similar-length flight? The first time we walked a lot and took a canal cruise and explored cafes, bars and so on, turning in early (about 10pm local time). The next time (last year) I bowled into the city on the train and wallked around, trained back to the airport and caught another flight to Frankfurt where I was met by my son. We picked up a car and drove to Rudesheim where we partied in local bars till about 2am. I've put it down to the adrenalin of being in a new and exciting place; I've only ever felt jetlag after the journey back home!

Well, despite all the jillions of self-delusionary messages to the contrary on this board I'd say this is ONE time when the contents, amenities, etc., of your hotel room very much WILL make a difference and I trust you've planned that carefully.

Anything that is "relaxing" is probably going to promote that weariness...I'd hate to think of you both snoring through a boat ride on the Seine. Walking around will help, having a big meal will not help...taking that sleep aid THAT NIGHT will help re-set your biological clock.
