Suggestions for a short trip to Rome

Hello. I’m traveling to Italy at the end of September for a wedding via Rome. After the wedding we will spend 3 full days in Rome. My husband and I have been to Rome before, love the city and stayed in the Campo de Fiore area (which we also liked). We will now be traveling with our 22 year old daughter. I’m just starting to map out the trip and as I do I have a few questions. I always get great feedback and ideas from the forum which can guide me. I’m looking for hotel suggestions- would prefer more of a boutique type hotel (vs a Marriot/chain) but will need a triple room that isn’t too tiny for 3. I liked that Marriot had reasonably priced connected rooms but the hotel didnt appear to have a local flavor. My price range is $300-$500/night. Also looking for restaurant suggestions, any day trips ( I’m exploring those now and leaning toward Umbria) and any other thoughts you have. Thank you for any feedback.

Don’t miss arranging a tour to visit the Borghese Gallery.

I can highly recommend this restaurant in Trastevere - daLu. We liked it so much we ate there twice.
For hotels for 3 adults you can look on Booking.com and plug in 3 adults plus your dates and price ranges- I did that and one that looked promising at your budget range was called Trastevere Gallery Suites. Some years ago we stayed with our son at Relais Le Clarisse in Trastevere and that was nice although our son complained about the small bed and his bed was in a sort of alcove but I'm sure they have other room sizes.
In June we stayed at NH Collection Roma Fori Imperiali overlooking the Forum, it was a great location and really lovely hotel but I think a room/suite for 3 is over your budget. Our friend had a suite which was really nice and had a separate room with fold out couch for the third person. I love boutique style hotels too but for 3 people I think you will be paying more than your stated budget for a great one.
Plus one for the comment above re: the Borghese Gallery, one of my favourites. In June we visited the Doria Pamphili Gallery which was lovely and we had lunch in their restaurant which was fantastic, great food and service and pretty surroundings, not cheap but worth it.

We stayed at the Hotel Modigliani ten years ago. The website shows it is still nice. It has triple and quad rooms and a garden apartment. https://www.hotelmodigliani.com/

Another vote for the Galleria Borghese.

Hotel Pensione Barrett is well within your price range, with boutique charm galore. The triple room was pretty small, though, and there are stairs. On the other hand — Torre de Largo Argentina! Cats!

Best advice we had from our host there was to go to the Colonna Palace, only open Friday and Saturday mornings, stunning art collection and decor.

Hi erp, Hub and I stayed at Hotel Raphael ( https://www.biohotelraphael.com/new-intro-page.htm ) right off Pizza Navona. It was an anniversary splurge after visiting Perugia. I think you need more days to include Umbria as well.

Scroll down to March 17 for the Rome portion:

Perugia and Rome by train and bus

I've stayed at the Albergo Santa Chiara https://www.albergosantachiara.com/en/, which has triples and quadruples. It is behind the Pantheon, so slightly away from the madhouse surrounding that noble edifice. It's not luxurious but was more than adequate.

I've also stayed at the Albergo Portoghesi https://www.hotelportoghesiroma.it, a quirky little spot about a ten minute walk from the hordes. It also has a triple.

Warning -- my stays at both were some years back.

I also think with three days you will have more than enough to do in Rome with taking a day trip. If you have to, you might consider the ruins of Ostia Antica, a short ride from Rome. https://www.ostia-antica.org

I have also stayed at Hotel Raphael and loved it but unless you increase your budget I don't think it will work for you.
It's a great location and a lovely hotel.

If you stay in Campo dei Diore again, it isn’t far to walk the area near The Pantheon. We had excellent dinners at Armando Al Pantheon (trattoria) and La Rosetta(seafood)
