Stayed at the Radisson Blu Waterfront hotel last October. It couldn't be closer to the train station... was so easy to take the subway and get anywhere in the city. It is also within a 5 minute walk to the tram, which we took to get to some of the sites (ABBA and VASA museums).

Our room rate was well over $300/night, closer to $400 if I remember correctly. We did have breakfast included, and the selection was HUGE. I even saw caviar, though I didn't have any. Preferred the delicious crepes/pancakes mmmm

A couple things I remember well: Check-in/Check-out can be slow, so allocate enough time. It can be a very busy place and usually only 2 to 3 clerks working the desk. Breakfast can also be chaotic, but the staff will work to get you a table. It is well worth it.

And the bathroom floor was nice and heated, loved it!

You are also close to the ice bar, we did that our last night and it was a cool! experience

Ruby,thank you for the info on the hotel. I think that it was a good choice for us. I'm going to try to blank out the (scary) price (although I don't know the exact price we're paying, as it's hidden somewhere in the (also scary) price we're paying the travel agent for the first part of our trip).

I think you can made some corrections to your blog:

Arlanda is one of 3 airports that serve Stockholm, your blog makes it sound as if there is only Arlanda. Personally I found the Arlanda Express much more expensive than the bus, not just a little.

The Liquor Store does not exist in Sweden. The store that sells wine/spirits is called Systembolaget, it is government controlled.

I don't find Nordic people as welcoming as Latin Americans and I don't find Swedish culture highly influenced by American culture but guess I see it differently.

IKEA doesn't come from Stockholm, apart from Benny none of ABBA are from Stockholm either. Absolut vodka comes from Skåne

Am looking for a budget hotel in/near the Gamla Stan area for our extended family of eight adults, we stay one night in Stockholm pre-cruise. Thanks!
