Suggestion for day trip from FRA
Hi All,
We're going to round the world for our honeymoon, next Oct, and the last leg has us flying from Paris to NY with a layover in Frankfurt (Lufthansa.) Our flight arrives in Frankfurt at 8:30am and we have several choices for the flight to NY with the latest one leaves at 3pm. Assuming that we check in for the international leg as soon as we arrive, I figure that give from 9/9:30 until about 2pm to go do something.
Give this relatively short timeframe, I was wondering if there's a quick day trip we could make. We are going through Singapore earlier in the trip and they have a 2-4hr city tour and was hoping that there might be something similar in Frankfurt.
Anybody have any neat suggestions?
Thx,
Dixon

You won't exit customs before 9:00 and will need to be back at FRA by 1:00 or so for a 3:00 flight, right?
Pretty tight for an outing.
Best bet: S-bahn to Mainz (20-25 min each way.) Get off at Mainz Roemisches Theater station (first stop after crossing the Rhine) and walk north a few blocks into the old town. See the Dom, the Augustinerstrasse cafes and shops, maybe the Gutenberg Museum, have a meal at an outdoor cafe in the main square in front of the Dom. Take a walk through Mainz' petty city park, just north of the aforementioned train station (there's a small outddor beer garden at the Hotel Favorite at the south end of the park.) head back to FRA.

OR.. TAKE A TAXI TO ST. STEPHAN´S CATHEDRAL AND HAVE HIM WAIT FOR YO AND THEN DROP OU OFF AT OLD TOWN CENTER.
THIS CATHEDRAL HAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BLUE STAINED GLASS WINDOWS.. BY MARC CHAGALL. VERY INSPRIING.
(sorry about the caps)

Russ: Since I'm coming from Paris, I wouldn't need to worry about customs, and was hoping that I could either check-in all the way to NY from Paris or on arrival at Frankfurt. But valid point, might not want to cut it too thin
Thanks for the suggestions, both sound possible in the short time frame!

Why not take the train shuttle into Frankfurt and visit the old part of the city (Roemer, cathedral area). Then walk across the Eiserner Steg (pedestrian) bridge across the river, head west (downriver) and take in one of the mseums along the river bank. Walk across the river at the next bridge and back to the RR statiuon and the shuttle.
You should be at the airport at least 2 hours before flight time. Frankfurt airport rem, inds me of O'Hare, and that's not a compliment.
