Huh? What self-respecting 30 something professional woman isn't looking for a 21 year old stud? LOL

Talleyho, that is surprising that you must pay tuition in France in addition to what you're paying your university. Doesn't your univ. have a study abroad program? I'm thinking of the USA university model of foreign study; perhaps you're not from US?

When my daughter studied at University of Strasbourg thru Penn State, she and her friends discovered that U. of S. was very inexpensive to attend and therefore Penn State was making a bit of $$ on the transaction since she (we!) paid for a regular term at PSU. An immensely valuable experience, none the less!

I think the reason on the tuition may be that those school choices are all private schools. That's kind of odd they only allow private schools, as I think the French universities are some of the best and where I have gone (l'Institut Catholique and Sorbonne). Perhaps the home tuition is a nominal fee for enrollment such as they do for PhD students working on dissertataions.

Anyway, I don't know what the dorms for those private schools are like, but the dorms at l'Institut Catholique are actually quite nice. Most of the rooms are singles. Even at the Sorbonne (which is Cite Universitaire), everyone I know had their own room, and I when I attended a summer music school, some students I knew were in the Spanish dorm and they could have singles if they wanted, also. So, you should check into the student accommodations as it may very likely be private rooms, a lot of them are. I really liked staying in the l'Institut Catholique foyers as I had my own room which was very large, a window overlooking a garden, a sink in the room, and there were several shower rooms in the halls that were not that busy and always kept immaculate. IN fact, the nuns ran a tight ship and it was no talking/stereo or radio playing after 10 pm, which was really nice. YOu could whisper in the hallways or talk down in a common room, of course, but you couldn't make noise around the rooms.

You could apply to the Cite Universitaire at www.ciup.fr (the Spanish dorm is pretty nice). Also, the foyer FIAP jean monnet in Montparnasse has private rooms

thanks for the advice. the reason i am having to pay university tuition and paris tuition as well is because like christina points out, it is a private language school. my university has a great study abroad program that bypasses the double tuition IF you stay for an entire semester or an entire year. for those programs, you go to a french university. in my case, since i am married with children, i can't go for that long. however, they will allow me to attend certain private language schools for 8 weeks and receive 9 semester credit hours.

as for the university dorm accomodations, i contacted fiap two months ago and they are already full until september 2004. i have written to ciup and they have not responded. the l'institut catholique sounds wonderful. too bad that is not one of my choices of schools. i'm in my 40's and no longer a party animal so silence after 10 pm would be heaven!
