Stuck in Ravello?
My friend and i are staying in Positano but will be going to Ravello to attend the concert. From what ive read, public transportation such as the bus, will not be running at the late hour in which the concert ends. So im wondering if i should book a transfer back to Positano now, or should i wait till we're there and call a taxi?
I already emailed one website about rates and they quoted me what seemed to be an outrageous amount to drive us back. Is there a local taxi company in Positano that i can just call and have come pick us up?
Or shall i start looking for a home in Ravello?

Ask at your hotel, they probably have their own favorite drivers they can hire to pick you up. If you wait until you are in Positano maybe you can split the fare with other guests.
You can always arrange a pickup with the drivers (taxi) who hang around the square in Positano. It is competetive so you can bargain, maybe.

Thanks, something to think about.
SeaUrchin - Your idea would have been perfect had we not rented an apartment instead of a hotel.
Neopolitan - So what kind of figures are we talking here? Perhaps what i was quoted online was not so outrageous afterall. Would it be cheaper to just stay there and live forever.

Nessundorma: I was surprised to read your recommendation about rooms at the restaurant Da Salvatore. We had a beautiful lunch there last Sept. What views and food! Can you elaborate with details about the lodging possibilities? Thanks so much.

There are six double rooms underneath the restaurant, each with their own small private balcony that gives you the same lovely view of the sea and the cliffs that you have in the restaurant. The rooms have large bathrooms and pretty Vietri tiles on the floors. There is a simple armoire, nightstands and a very comfortable letto matrimoniale (oversized double bed). Neither the "hotel" or the restaurant has a webisite as far as I know. You telephone or fax the restaurant to reserve the rooms. (Ask for Pino.) There are some months in the winter when the restaurant is only open on weekends, if at all. Three years ago, I paid 90e for a double with a breakfast of cereal and rolls, juice and coffee.

Steve - You were right on. I was quoted a 100 by the first company i emailed, then the next two quoted me 70. It may be alot but i feel better knowing that someone is picking me and my friend up. Two woman wondering around aimlessly could be devestating for Ravello.
Ira - I contacted Jack the Driver, Amalfi-drive Limo, and Benvenutolimos. But what i should have done in the first place was email the driver thats picking us up from the airport and see what he quotes. So now im waiting to hear from him. (in case your wondering its Renato Cuomo)
Neo - Im glad i could bring amusement into your life. (Veruca = 1 point)
Nice suggestion on staying over night. That would have worked out well had i not planned a tour for first thing in the morning the following day. (what was i thinking!)
