Strikes: Lufthansa + French ATC + British Airways

It looks like things are heating up on the travel front in Europe, and these things can be contagious. After all, you've noticed how the airlines have been cutting down on services and food. They have been doing the same thing to their own employees, and after a certain point, something's gotta give...

Anybody planning on traveling in Europe in the upcoming season should keep an eye on the issues, because a strike in one country can completely affect its neighbors as well. France being situated where it is, its air traffic control strikes can often screw everybody else up.

Bon voyage!

Lufthansa strike is off again, for now.

The French air traffic controllers haven't been on strike for a while - they were due another one. And what better time than the school holidays. After all, earning the money they do and working 100 days a year are terrible working conditions. In fact on average in 2008 they only worked 56 days each! No wonder they don't want to join the European single sky regime. They may have to start working for a living.

Hopefully they really will go back to work this weekend so I can fly to La Palma.

Do the school holidays coincide with Easter?

TDudette, yes schools have Easter holidays too. But don't panic, it doesn't mean they will strike then.

Greece is on strike too and not just the airspace is closed.
Looks like the countries credit card is no longer good for shopping.

We travel 8-22 March. Four flights all on BA!

Is my inference that BA will try to break the union correct?
