Which is worse...

Ok, which is worse for travelers to France? Threat of terrorism or threat of transportation shut downs due to fuel shortages? A perfect storm...?

This is a complete non-question.

The "threat" of terrorism is a truly fatuous idea.

Anyone with a brain accepts there is a high likelihood, sometime in the future, of a terrorist outrage somewhere in France. Anyone with a brain, in any developed part of the world, knows with complete certainty there will be a fatal accident on a road within ten miles of their house in the next month

No-one stays locked up in their house just in case that certain fatal accident involves them. So why would anyone even waste time writing about the "threat" of French terrorism? It's as inane as worrying about the "threat" of being struck by lightning

REI (www.rei.com) sells a fantastic looking baseball cap with a built in lightening rod - I highly recommend it, especially when traveling overseas. Great way to blend in with the crowd...

At the moment, French transportation strikes are worse.

The transportation strikes are just about finished. The new strikes are oil refineries with truckers coming up on Monday. And of course the high school students are on strike.

Oh, trust me, these "threats" aren't keeping me from hopping on my flight tomorrow...but it just struck me funny that the strikes have now taken over the terrorists in the media! I am selfishly concerned about a possible fuel shortage ...and of course those pesky HS students...

Transportation strikes are the true threat. I visited Paris last week while every news report in the US spoke about the travel advisory. Family and friends were helpful in reminding me of the threat and asked me if I was keeping my travel plans. Heck, yeah!

Once in Paris, everything was exactly as I last remembered it, except seeing gendarmes walking around the Eiffel Tower. And the city was full of tourists.
