Stresa Hotels

Will be in Stresa for 2 nights in late October. I want something charming and lovely but not too expensive. As between Antico Palazzo (around $200), Regina Palace at $250 or Fontana at $100, which should I pick? Any other suggestions? Aminta and Toree are closed for the season. Thanks.

klt,

I haven't been to any of the ones you've mentioned, but we did stay at La Palma two years ago and liked it very much. It is on the main street ( across from the lake) and only a few minutes walk into town. Most of the rooms have small terrace facing the lake.

Good luck, and have a great time in Stresa!

We stayed at the Astoria right along near the Regina Palace and facing the lake. It was much nicer than expected from the rates we got. What's more, for some reason we got put on the top floor where the rooms and the baths are actually double sized -- simply palatial. If you booked one of those, I know you'd be happy.

We stayed at the Regina Palace and it was fine - room was reasonably large, good views, breakfast nice continental with the extras (fruit, yogurt etc) - but this was aobut 6 years ago - so can;t comment on current conditions.

But we did pay way less - even given the 6 year difference.

These aren't cheap but have stayed at the Villa Carlotta (~4mi from town) and Grand Hotel Bristol (walking distance) both are great hotels, full service, wonderful lake views. At Bristol the junior suites are fabulous w/large terrace overlooking lake.

We loved the Hotel Verbano on Isola dei Pescatore, tiny island just off Stresa. Very charming, good breakfasts, excellent restaurant. 14 rooms and wonderful views. We paid $110 for 2 4 years ago.

Buon Viaggio!
