Trip to Italy? Help!

We are going to Italy next August and need help with our trip. We will be spending the last day in Rome b/c of our flights. However, we have 7 nights in between that we wanted to cover Tuscany/Florence. Could anyone help?? We don't want to change hotels every night, but want to see as much as possible without killing ourselves. And we have been to Rome before so it's not neccessary to include it with this trip-
Thanks-

Hi wee,

Why not spend the week in Florence with daytrips to Sienna, Lucca/Pisa, Bologna, .....

Have you been to Venice?

I haven't been to Venice yet, would that be too much? Also I didn't realize but we will be there on the 15th for their National Holiday will that be a problem?

Train to Florence on day 1--spend 3 nites there. Get car, stay in south Tuscany near Siena for 3 nites and explore hill towns. Drive to near FCO for last nite. That is a common itinerary that makes good sense. August is hot--you will need AC.

Hi wee,

I suggest 3 nights Venice, 3 nights Florence (possible day trip to Siena) off to Rome.

Everything will be on a holiday schedule.

We spent a week in Florence and didn't get to see everything we wanted to. If you are interested in art, architecture, and history there is more than enough to see in Florence. I liked Ira's plan, but I would stay flexible in case you want to see more, or less, of Florence. I would not combine Florence and Venice in a week; there is just too much in each place to see.

Enjoy your trip.

I agree, but sometimes one only has a week, and it would be a shame to skip Venice, **or worse**, do it as a daytrip.
