Scavi Scare -- Confirmation # BEFORE payment but nothing else!

Hi everyone --

Quick question for those who are in the know for the Scavi tour.

I got a confirmation # with instructions on how to pay (which I promptly did) but I've never heard back since then. Should I have gotten a second email telling me all was confirmed??? I have written them asking to no avail and now I'm getting nervous.

If I show up with the confirmation # is that all I need??

Thanks!

Hi Reed.

From what I've read, I would imagine that if you arrive at the Vatican with a confirmation number you are good to go.

Do you mind if I ask how long your response time was between you sending the email, receiving the automatic reply and then receiving the confirmation? I am currently awaiting my own confirmation number. Thanks for your help and good luck.

They didn't reply to my original email either and I was concerned even with the confirmation number. I then checked the web site for my credit card where you can see all the charges and it was on there so that relieved my worry. By the way we loved the excavation tour-very interesting.

I am in the same boat. I received a confirmation number, promptly e-mailed the credit card information and haven't heard anything since. It has not been billed to my card yet. This was all done several months ago. Question for eneg - How soon did they bill your credit card?

Don't worry, it just takes them a little while before they actually get around to charging it and sending a receipt.
I had made a reservation for my trip to Italy last week. It took them a while, so I sent an email to ask if they got the credit card info I had faxed. They emailed back after a few days saying they got it, and they would charge it in a few days and send a receipt. They did, and I had no problems.
But, don't worry in any event, as long as you have your confirmation number you will be fine. When I was there last week, several people on my tour paid at the Scavi office right before the tour. So, if they don't get around to charging it, don't panic, just go to the scavi office, bring your printout with the confirmation number, and when you get there they will tell you if they've charged it or whether you have to pay there.
Enjoy.

We did the scavi tour last week. The people who work in that office are so grim and almost nasty. They did not seem like nice people at all - yet the tour guide was wonderful. The guys in that scavi office must really hate their job. Come to think of it - we never saw anyone at the vatican smile or be pleasant - -even in the museum - what's with that??!
Well - the scavi is worth the wait - amazing!
