Stores in Rome, Italy

Is there a store in Rome that would be equivalent to the Monoprix stores in France? I bought a few things in their beauty section and I'd like to find something similar while in Rome.

Thanks!

Are you looking for basic supplies (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc) or a broader selection or specialty items? It it's the former then you'll find small but quite complete food/grocery markets all over the place that will have all the necessities - there are several chains with many locations.

Dear Monica-
Try Rinacienti. It's equivalent to Sears, and it's owned by the redoubtable Mr. Berlusconi.

Not really Sears - more upscale than that.

Yes kybourbon is correct... more like a Macy's or Rich's... There are two in Rome. The most visited one is on the Via Corso. The other store is a couple blocks north of Termini. Coin's are far more prevalant and often have a downstairs grocery store - Try the one on the Cola di Rienzo, at the San Giovano Metro, or on the Viale Trastevere! There are HUGE sales at the Coin today!!

Thanks for the suggestions.

When I was in Aix, I picked up a wonderful liquid soap - Le Petit Marseillais. It's a olive scent and I love it! I'm just looking for a place to discover something new in my travels, shopping wise.

I am going to Provence in September and will try to remember to look for that type of soap.

This is the liquid soap. Smells soooooooooo good! You can get it at the Monoprix stores for about 3.20 euros. There are other scents but this stood out for me.

Monica - next time in Paris try this soap from Fragonard. I always stock up on the one with lavender. I keep the soap in an armoir and every time I open it I smell a bit of France - it's heavenly.
