There are several, but you may have to go out of your way to find them. Rome has lots of smaller shops - many are part of chains, but mega dept stores aren't as common in Rome as, for example, Kaufhaus.

I haven't purchased a hair dryer in Upim or Coins etc. tribi. Not saying they don't have them. But I have purchased hair dryers in stores that sells electronic appliances. They are always small shops.

If you need electrics / electronics appliances in rome forget about Upim, Coin and Rinascente. I strongly suggest you to see at one of the Di Salvo & della Martira shop, which is well known as the cheaper chain in Rome. On of the shop near the city center is right behind St. Angel Castle and near the Vatican.

I know for sure about the quality of their services and low prices because they are just few blocks from our office and we use them often (computer accessories for the office and mobile phone).
