Goodness, you must be keen to tour Stonehenge at 8am. It's an impressive place for what it is but not the best-supported by English Heritage.
If you are interested in things like this I too recommend Silbury Hill, and Avebury which is very close to Silbury. There are many barrows and other prehistoric structures over Wiltshire, worth some research first.
If you drive be aware that the traffic could be heavy at that time in the morning, and the weather not brilliant - the A303 is an appalling road at the best of times and there are diversions being applied over the next few months as it is 'improved'.
Waldo, as to how the 'rocks' got there, who knows? They originated from a long way away.
