We will be in Stockholm for two days in July. I could use some help in mapping out the itinerary. We would like to visit City Hall Tower/Tour, Vasa Museum, Nobel Museum,
Palace and changing of guard, Gamla Stan, Millegarten and any other suggestions. Can you please help us figure out the best route for two days.?

The Nobel Museum, Royal Palace and changing of the guard are all in Gamla Stan and could be done in one afternoon/morning.

City Hall is nearby on Kungsholmen. You could combine that before or after your Gamla Stan visit.

That leaves the Vasa Museum on Djurgården and Millesgården on Lidingö. A lot to cover in one day. Allow at least three hours at the Vasa museum alone.

For starts it would be helpful to do a bit of leg work yourself and find out the opening times for the museums, city hall and changing of the guard on the days you are in Stockholm.

We did all these things in 2 1/2 days without the changing of the guard and still had time to shop, dine at sidewalk cafes and enjoy the Östermalms Saluhall.

We actually have 2 1/2 days as well. Can you also share your sequence of events

Day 1: We started out in Karlaplan where there is a lovely park and fountain. Stopped at a shopping mall to buy gift for cousin and look though some stores.

From there we went to Ostermalsm Saluhall which is an enclosed market of every food imaginable. Walked along the streets past the Royal Theater and window shopped at some of the high stores.

Had lunch at the Pelican (traditional Swedish food). After lunch we walked to Glamla Stan. We checked out a few shops. We took the English speaking tour at City Hall and the Stockhom Nobel Academy and Museum.

Walked out through the courtyard and down through Djurgarden.
Continued along Lake Malaren and stopped for dinner and a beer at Malarpaviljongen in Kungsholmen (a great cafe right on the lake.

Day 2: Went to the Vasa Museum in the morning when they opened. They offer a guided tour in English which we enjoyed. Then went for lunch at Bla Porten, a little cafe down the street. Had lunch in the lovely garden with flowers and fountains.

From there we took a bus to Millesgården on Lidingö. We loved it there and spent some time just walking around the sculptures, watching the dancing water at the fountains and lingering in the sun to watch boats and ships on the water. Walked back through the area and went to dinner at the home of DH's cousin.

Day 3: Ate breakfast and Left for London.

The biggest surprise to me, in addition to the unexpected beauty of the city,
was the length of the daylight......It seemed there were only a few hours of darkness.
Kind of extends your stay.....

The long days are great for sightseeing, but you tend to lose track of when it's time to eat and sleep.

Millesgarden is lovely, beautiful sculpture gardens, but a subway,bus ride and walk away. You didn't mention the boat ride out to visit Drottingholm Palace where the royal family lives. The boat docks near City Hall. Highly recommended and one of Stockholm's highlights.
