The Pier Hotel is right down on the quay. If you open the link I gave to the Royal you'll see a photograph of the harbor on one of the pages. There is a row of buildings on the right. The last on in the frame is light blue. If I remember correctly, that is the Pier Hotel. The harbor is just across the road.
The pub is very lively and filled with locals. But it's not the sort of place the falls silent when a tourist pops in. However, we were travelling with our son and it didn't seem like a place to bring a kid, so we didn't linger. I regret that. Looked like a great place to spend at least part of an evening -- not threatening.
Here's a link to some tripadvisor reviews of the hotel. http://tinyurl.com/hqssk.

As I recall from my visit to Broadford (granted this was 6 years ago) there was one main commercial building that housed the dentist, the convenience store, the grocery store, and the laundromat... oh, and the gas station. Other than that, there was the reptile house and residential houses. I could be wrong - we arrived in the early evening, so it COULD have been a booming metropolis during the day... right
It was beautiful to view the water from, though.
