Stiftskeller St. Peter restaurant in Salzburg...

I have heard many great things from people about Stiftskeller St. Peter restaurant in Salzburg. Does any one have any experience eating at this restaurant?

Thanks,

It is probably our favorite restaurant in Europe. The food is great and the ambience is super.

If you want to dine here around Christmas, book now! We booked dinner and concert here for Christmas evening several weeks ago.

Yes - we've eaten there twice. The food is OK - not great - but not bad. (A special of the evening mixed grill included a little hot dog bearnaise, among other things.)

But the atmosphere is fun and they've had musicians and very holiday type atmosphere when we were there.

Had a terrific dinner there a couple of weeks ago--would recommend it highly. Great service too.

We will be there September 21st and 22nd. Is there any reason that we would need reservations for dinner around 8:00 pm ??

Does anyone have the email address for this restaurant(not in my guidebooks)or is a phone call the route to go? We're trying to get reservation in November and it appears that there is one seating per evening.

The food is not the best we've experienced in Europe but it's good enough and the atmosphere is great. A memorable meal...

When my sister and I were visitng Salzburg in 1970, we ate there 3 times - having the Chateaubriand for 2 each night ($3.50!!!).

17 years later, I had to go there with my wife. We had the worst experience I have ever had dining. The food was ok, but the waiter was an absolute jerk. We almost came to blows because he couldn't correctly add the bill and refused to see the error of his addition. I finally got him to near the correct total, and then left it at that.

my wife and I stayed in Salzburg for 3 nights and ate at Stiftskeller St. Peter restaurant for lunch . The food here was very good. Make sure you save room for their fabulous dessert, the Salzburger Nockerel!!!

Are reservations necessary?

We've had two meals there and would say the food is literally just OK, nothing to get excited unless you're very hungry. The ambiance will depend on which room you're seated in, but overall it's OK. Reservation is a good idea especially for weekends and during festivals/holidays.
