resturants suggestion in Salzburg for Christmas

We'll stay in Salzburg for this Christmas holiday. I know some resturants may not be open on Christmas eve or Christmas day. Any suggestion for family resturants with good Austrian food, reasonable price and with casual atmosphere(we'll only bring casual clothings)?

Can't help with good Austrian food - but if my memory serves, we had a dinner xmas night at a wonderful little italian place called Il Sol.....great food, reasonable prices, relaxed atmosphere. We were there for 10 days and I think we ate at this place 3 times.

We had xmas eve dinner at our hotel.

Christmas Eve dinner at Herzl which is at Hotel Goldener Hirsch. Set menu is 52€ for 3 courses, and Christmas Day evening dinner at Stiftskeller St. Peter.

Mozart Dinner Concert
on December, 25th
at Barockhall of Stiftskeller St. Peter
at 8 p.m. (admission from 7 p.m., duration app. 2,5 hours)

The rate per ticket is € 45,00 and includes the menu with three courses as well as the concert with our Amadeus Consort Salzburg.

Thanks for both of your replies. Can we dress casually to these resturants especially the concert dinner?

You might be interested in these brochures which are at least partly in English I found on www2.salzburg.info, one for special Christmas and New Years hours for sightseeing and one for Christmas and New Years dining and entertainment. Note that they appear to be for Christmas Eve and New Years Eve 2006 but many restaurants and other places give websites or email addresses so you could find out from there about 2007 and about Christmas Day if something appeals to you.

And here is more specific information about Oberndorf, the "Silent Night" town including the time on Christmas Eve for the special Silent Night service.

From that same page the contact information for the local tourist office is as follows:

Oberndorf Tourist Information Office
Stille-Nacht-Platz 2
5110 Oberndorf
Tel. +43/(0)6272/4422
Fax: DW 4

We're dining at both of the restaurants I listed. We're not wearing jeans, but not fancy clothes either. Smart Casual is what we're packing!

Thanks again for all the replies.
Laurie_ann, where did you find the links for the Christmas opening hours and the list of resturants and their prices? I went to Salzburg.info web site but can not find those information. I'm also interested about the Silent Night Christmas service. Did you join the "Silent Night Tour" or go on your own?

I couldn't reconstruct how I found them, but click on the two "tinyurl" in my posting above and you will have those brochures. Actually, we didn't go to Salzburg yet, I just found these while researching for our New Years week trip. I think to see the Silent Night church we will see if we can't figure out public transportation, either by asking at our hotel or at the Salzburg tourist information center. We have a week there so we have time.

Have a great time!
We were very happy with the meals we had at the Biowirthaus restaurant in the Hotel zum Hirschen.
http://www.biowirtshaus.at/

The focus is on organic produce. Even the beer was organic (Hirter BioPils, quite good). We ended up eating there three times during a six day stay.
Inexpensive and casual. As it's a hotel restaurant, I suspect it will be open over the holidays, but suggest you check first and if it's open, make reservations.

Actually, a little more swanning around their web site found that they are open both Christmas eve and Christmas day with set menus...
