Start in London or Vienna?

Hi!
We're flying from LAX & trying to decide whether to start in London and make our way to Vienna or vice versa. Any suggestions on folks who have experience? The only other trip we had to Europe, we started in Frankfurt & ended in London. It will be a 3 week trip. Our daughter really wants us to go to Vienna & understands some German. The rest of us don't understand any German. There will be four of us--hubby, me, our 20-year-old D & 22-year-old S.
Thanks!

I generally prefer to take the shorter leg first, which would mean starting in London. A little less jet lag to get used to, and the time difference is one hour less than it will be in Vienna.

What time of year are you traveling? Does your trip involve visiting Alpine villages? I am assuming you are taking trains.

Well, we perfer the London to Vienna plan because it is shorter travel day and it is easier to acclimate ourselves to the time change in an English speaking country. We also live in LA and have done this trip both ways. The London route has always been better. Since you have 3 weeks you can take the train all accross Europe and enjoy some of the sites between your two distinations.

Have a good trip,

Greg

We will be traveling mid-May through early June. The trip is slightly cheaper if we start in Vienna, but sometimes we travel better than other times.

Actually, I prefer to get the MOST traveling done at the beginning. Since you'll be tired & jetlagged on your arrival day, you might as well use the rest of Day 1 getting to Vienna. [If you go to London first, your first day there will be in a daze anyway.]

The reason I asked about time of year is if you are visiting alpine villages, snow and weather can be a consideration. June could be a great time for Alpine wildflowers and the weather might be a little warmer.
