St Pauls Club Quarters, London

I was wondering if anyone had stayed at this hotel in London and what their opinion was. We have booked into here for 1 night in September, and if there was any reasonably priced eating (15-25 pounds) in the area on a Sunday evening.

I was hoping someone might have stayed here and had an opinion either good or bad.

Have you looked for reviews on tripadvisor.com?

Nope - won't be much of anyplace to eat near there on a Sunday night. (or even on a weeknight - but definitely not on a Sunday night)

That property is on Ludgate Hill practically next door to St Paul's Cathedral. That is mainly a business district and is dead at night - and deader than dead on a Sunday night.

You'll have to go elsewhere to eat.

We stayed there for a weekend last summer. The hotel was fine. No "character" but a good modern hotel. Our room was compact.

As for food on a Sunday night I don't recall that being a problem. Sure some places are closed but you will find something not too far away.

I've stayed at a different Club Quarters in the City, the on Gracechurch St. Property is ok, the rooms are quite on a small side but does not look aged.

As for Ludgate, it is at the border of financial district so pretty much everything is closed down on weekends. Your best bet would be walk south across Millennium Bridge, find something near London Bridge or further west on Southbank. About 15min walk north, you can find Smiths of Smithfield--carnivore heaven. There is a charming pub/bistro/restaruant called the Bleeding Heart in Hatton Garden (though not sure if they're open on weekends).

We stayed in that general area one weekend and thought it was really dead - nothing was open. We did find the stunning Leadenhall Market on our quest for dinner and there is a Pizza Express inside. You would get something within your budget, they have pizza and pasta etc and you can get wine if you want. It's a bit of a walk but worth seeing the market, though most of it will be closed you can still see the main structure. Check some pictures of it on the web.

We stayed there last month over a weekend. No problems with the hotel, as others said - small rooms, but the price was right and the location is very good. We had been staying in a more "lively" area, so the quiet streets were a nice welcome for us! There are places to eat in the area. Plus, we crossed the bridge to the other side of the river and ate over there. Also a Wagamamma (sp?) a few doors down from the hotel.

We would certainly stay there again.
