St. Maxime

Does anyone have hotel suggestions for staying in St. Maxime? Plan on visiting St. Tropez, but not sure I want to stay there and am looking at St. Maxime as an alternative. What is St. Maxime like? Thanks for any info.

Friends of ours have a timeshare in St. Maxime, so we've been a few times. It's OK, pretty much a beach resort town, but nowhere near as nice as St. Tropez or Cassis for example. Also, be very careful about the time of year. If you are there at the height of the summer vacations, it will be a nightmare driving anywhere from St. Maxime, but especially towards St. Tropez.....

There's also the town of Fréjus, right next to St-Maxime, a favorite of French families on vacation.

Ste. Maxime is much more family oriented than St. Tropez. I prefer the latter myself, or the neighbouring villages like Les Marines de Cogolin or even Port Grimaud. You can then still make use of the famous St. Tropez beaches.
