St Germain area hotel

We stayed in an apartment the last time we were in Paris (the first time!!) and had the best time in our area. We were staying near Rue de Buci and we really liked the area because of nearby grocery, shops, restaurants and other tourist sites that we could walk to. I have been looking for a hotel for 3 nights for 3 people (hard to find) and am wondering if you all have recommendations? We are up for staying in another area, but want to be able to walk to local bars and restaurants and shops.. We aren't even sure where to put the price point - but I would say that we are moderate range travelers. We don't want to stay in a "chain" hotel. We are only staying for the 3 nights and then heading south. If you can offer any suggestions we would appreciate the advice!

My friends stay at the Relais St Germain but it is expensive
and you can get reservations in their super restaurant that others like me can't. I love the rooms with beamed ceilings. I felt like I was visiting in an apartment.

Try this for comparisons.

http://www.venere.com/france/paris/#...|r6-c|all_rate

If that doesn't pull up cleanly, go to www.venere.com > Paris > St. Germain. (click on the paris icon on the map)

Read the reviews from folks that have stayed at these hotels to get a better feel. Also check the map for each hotel to make sure it's where you want.

Always doublecheck with the hotel website directly, to make sure you have the best price.

You might also check Hotel d' Aubusson. Loved this place, though it is not cheap.

We also stay in apts. but for our short 4 night stay at the end of our France trip in Sept. we booked this hotel. We like the location near the pedestrian streets of the left bank. So far this service has been responsive. It was recommended by another Fodorite.

Hi - not sure how far from St. Germain you want to go, but I have stayed in a triple at Hotel Acte V on rue Monge in the Latin Quarter and found it to be comfortable for 3. I think it would be a lower rate than some of the others mentioned here but might be worth checking. I liked this area also, close to a couple markets and easy access around the city.
