St Andrews to Glasgow Prestwick - Time Needed
Thoughts on how long the drive would actually take in early August. Would be trying to arrive for a 7:15am flight, so we would be driving in the early AM.

It will take at least 2 hours - maybe 2 1/2, plus you'll need to be at the airport an hour or more earlier than your flight (or lots more if you're dropping a car) so it sounds to me like something of a middle-of-the-night drive rather than a "morning" drive. Sure you can't overnight someplace closer to the airport?

You will be driving all the way across the country from st Andrews to Ayrshire. Even in the middle of the night I'd plan on more than 2 hours. Are you driving a rental? If so, the hire agency very likely won't be open early enough to drop the car.
I'd definitely leave St Andrews the evening before and stay in Troon, Prestwick or Ayr.

Thanks for the replies.
We are letting a townhouse in St Andrews for the week to play golf and wanted to make a day trip to Paris, as the rest of the group has not been there before. Prestwick to Beauvais via Ryanair is roughly $225 cheaper than BA out of EDI. I thought it would be too much for an early flight, but the rest of the group wanted me to explore the option. Looks like BA here we come.
