Thank you Gretchen for bringing that up. I started typing that last night, then abandoned the post. That whole deal about rubbing your armpits with acohol instead of a good antiperspirant is just too silly for me to pursue any further.

Remember when they said that people got Alzheimer's from cooking in aluminum cookware?

<I am known for asking the questions that others will not.>

That's true, most of us have more sense.

AFAIK nothing has been proven about Alzeheimer's. Nobody knows the cause and nobody has the cure. But, an increased level of aluminum has been detected in the brains of deceased Alzheimer's people. Being as how my mother's doctor has told us that she has Alzheimer's I would not want to be fooling around putting this chemical on my skin, especially when it is not necessary. Alzheimer's is a really pitiable condition to be in. Why take the risk?

You can get a non-aerosol spray deodorant here in the UK and it is a concentrated one too so it is very small and convenient for travelling.

we all need a little insensibility in our lives -- otherwise we would never have any fun!!!

Sensible people don't laugh

"AFAIK nothing has been proven about Alzeheimer's."

Thank you for your brilliant knowledge. As a person who lives with Alzheimer's, let me assure you that great strides have been made and there is MUCH they know.

I'm still sitting here shaking at the thought of that spreading of false information above about deodorant causing Alzheimers.

Here are a couple of other equally helpful hints that should be filed in the same place:

People should get rid of microwave ovens because they cause cancer.

Masturbation will cause you to go blind.

Eating bread crusts will make your hair grow curly.

Since birthdaygirlstrip is known to ask personal questions, here is one for her: Is it "birthday girl's trip" or "birthday girl strip?"

Well Neopolitan, I do not mean to offend anyone. I also live with Alzheimer's.

I did not say that aluminum causes Alzheimer's, but only that it has been found in increased levels in the brains of deceased Alzheimer's diseased people. Maybe it is an effect and not a cause. maybe it is totally unrelated.

Mother's doctor only knows Aracept and Exelon for Alzheimer's and says that they are a workaround, not a cure. These drugs delay the onset of symptoms but cannot stop the slow degradation of mental capacity. Maybe doctor is out of the loop on some new research? Mother's dementia is a truly sad thing in our family's lives.

I never heard the one about curly hair. Did you just make that up? Cute.

Peace, and sorry to have offended you. We're both in the canoe.
